Some tinkering in the past days brought back to my memory a quote from C.A.R. Hoare:
"Here is a language so far ahead of its time, that it was not only an improvement on its predecessors, but also on nearly all its successors". It was about ALGOL 60, but being slightly younger :-)) I was thinking of something else.
